North Dakota Inmate Search

North Dakota

Are you searching for a friend or loved one incarcerated in North Dakota? If so, they could be in a North Dakota jail or prison. In 2019, North Dakota had 1,700 felons in state prisons, 1,400 in local jails, 140 in juvenile correctional facilities, 770 on parole, and another 6,200 on probation. Each correctional facility maintains up-to-date inmate records to keep tabs on its inmates. Now, whereas juvenile offender records are confidential, you can trace an adult offender in a North Dakota correctional facility in at least three ways. Check them out below: -

North Dakota Statewide Inmate Search

North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (ND DOCR) is the agency in charge of the four state prisons in North Dakota. Here, the agency oversees felons serving sentences of more than 12 months. They include parolees and probationers who have been under the supervision of the state agency within the last three years. And, since there are no federal prisons in North Dakota, ND DOCR oversees up to 1,000 federal inmates too.

ND DOCR has an elaborate offender search lookup on its official website. Through it, family and friends can locate a loved one serving time in a North Dakota state prison. Here are the steps: -

  • Go to https://www.docr.nd.gov/resident-lookup
  • Enter the offender’s last name in the search box provided
  • Click ‘Submit’
  • The offender search will generate the offender’s name, mug shot, date of birth, estimated release date, and current facility.

North Dakota Jail Roster Search

Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments are the primary law enforcement agencies in North Dakota. The two agencies maintain county and city jails where they detain anyone they arrest for violating local and state laws. Each facility has an elaborate inmate listing detailing who is in custody at any given time.

Then, if your loved one was arrested within the last 45 days, go to the arresting law enforcement agency’s official website and look for the jail roster under the corrections section. Use the offender’s name or booking number to locate their details on the jail roster. A typical offender record includes their personal details, arrest, and booking details.

If your online jail roster search is unsuccessful, the person may still be undergoing the booking process. For this, call the jail administrator and book an appointment to confirm.

ND SAVIN/VINELink Inmate Search

Finally, if you are a crime victim seeking to know the whereabouts of the perpetrator sentenced to serve time in the North Dakota prison system, use the North Dakota VINELink to confirm. VINELink is a free nationwide victim notification service, allowing you to do an inmate search and receive notifications on the custody status and changes in case details. Here are the steps: -

  • Go to https://vinelink.vineapps.com/state/ND
  • Click on ‘Search for Someone’
  • Enter the Offender/Defendant’s name or DOC ID in the search box
  • Specify ‘North Dakota’ as your state of interest
  • Verify that you are not a robot
  • Click ‘Search’
  • The search results will display the offender’s name, age, gender, race, ID number, supervision status, and the reporting agency.
  • Click on ‘Get Notified’ to register for text or email notifications.
