Are you trying to locate your friend or loved one incarcerated in Michigan? If so, there are at least three ways to locate them. Check them out below:

Michigan Jail Roster Inmate Search

if you suspect that your friend or loved one is at a Michigan city or county jail, confirm by scrutinizing the arresting law enforcement agency's jail roster. A typical jail roster is a current inmate listing, providing the arrest and booking details of all offenders at the city or county jails. Still, it omits details of offenders still undergoing the booking process and may include recently released or transferred inmates.

Most city and county jails have online jail rosters accessible to the public via the respective law enforcement agencies' official websites. Still, you may book an appointment with the jail administrator to scrutinize the jail roster.

Michigan Statewide Inmate Search

Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) operates the state prisons in Michigan. More so, it maintains an elaborate offender database on its official website. The database includes information about its current prisoners, parolees, and probationers. It excludes details of offenders released from state prisons after three years.

Then, if an offender is sentenced and transferred to serve time in a Michigan state prison, locate them using the Michigan statewide inmate search as follows: -

  1. Go to https://www.michigan.gov/corrections/otis
  2. Click on 'Start Offender Search'
  3. Agree to the terms and conditions

Michigan State Police ICHAT

Michigan State Police have an Internet Criminal History Access Tool, allowing anyone to conduct a criminal history background check. This resource tool will trace offenders who have been off state supervision for more than three years. To use the ICHAT search, go to https://apps.michigan.gov/ and log in to the ICHAT site.

Federal Inmate Search

If the individual violated federal laws, they could be in any of the two stand-alone federal prisons in Michigan. For this, use the following steps to locate the offender in a Michigan federal prison: -

  • Go to https://www.bop.gov/mobile/find_inmate/byname.jsp
  • Click on 'Search by Name' or 'Search by Number' to find an inmate using their names or BOP Number
