Arizona Inmate Search

Arizona

Are you searching for someone incarcerated in Arizona? If so, consider using online offender searches before visiting the correctional facilities for in-person probes. Indeed, most correctional facilities in Arizona have detailed inmate databases accessible to the public via official websites. The offender databases provide the latest offender case details and current custody status. Likewise, local law enforcement agencies have jail administrators available by appointment to help you locate someone in a county or city jail. Below are three ways to conduct an Arizona inmate search: -

Statewide Inmate Search

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry is the agency supervising state prisons and community supervision in Arizona. The agency has a helpful Inmate Data Search link on its official website, providing access to its updated offender database. Use it to locate an inmate in a state prison, parole or probation as follows: -

  1. Go to https://corrections.az.gov/public-resources/inmate-datasearch
  2. Search by name or ADC number
  3. Narrow your search by specifying the offender’s gender or current status (active, inactive, supervised/parole, absconder)
  4. Click on Search
  5. The search will generate the following offender details: -
  • Personal Details - Name & Mug Shot, ADC Number, Gender, Height, Weight, Hair Color, Eye Color, Ethnic Origin
  • Custody Details – Custody Class, Admission Date, Projected Eligible Release Date, Most Recent Location, Inmate Mailing Address, Work Program, Parole Placement
  • Criminal History – Commitment & Sentence Details, Disciplinary Infractions & Appeals, Notification Requests, Detainers, Warrants

Federal Inmate Search

Next, the Federal Bureau of Prisons runs four federal prisons in Arizona. The facilities hold approximately 3,300 federal inmates annually under varied custody levels. Family and friends can locate a loved one in an Arizona federal prison by using the inmate locator on the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ official website as follows: -

  • Go to https://www.bop.gov/inmateloc//
  • Search for an offender using their name or BOP number
  • Narrow your search results by specifying the offender’s race, age, or gender
  • Click ‘Search’ to generate the offender’s name, BOP number, age, race, sex, current location, and expected release date

Jail Roster Search

Arizona has 69 city and county jails, annexes, and substation jails serving as the primary holding facilities for local law enforcement agencies. Hence, if your loved one is a recent arrestee, they could be in an Arizona jail awaiting trial, sentencing, release, or transfer to prison. And, if the detainee is facing a misdemeanor charge, they may serve their entire sentence of up to 12 months in one of the seven Maricopa County jails. Then, if you know which law enforcement agency made the arrest, visit their official website to scrutinize their jail roster. Here, you will need to know at least the offender’s name or booking number. Alternatively, book an appointment with the jail administrator at the Police Department or Sheriff’s Office to scrutinize the jail roster in person.

Finally, if the inmate is serving time at a Maricopa County jail, use their online Offender Search to locate the inmate. Or, call (602) 876-0322 and follow the prompts by the automated hotline. Still, you will need to know at least the inmate’s name and age or booking number.
